Objectives

Objective: The Bareilly Traffic Police is committed to ensuring public safety, efficient traffic management, and raising awareness about traffic rules and road safety. The department aims to create a secure and orderly road environment through:

  • Ensuring the smooth flow of traffic in the city.
  • Reducing accidents and fatalities through strict enforcement of traffic rules.
  • Educating citizens about road safety and traffic regulations.
  • Collaborating with other government departments to improve road infrastructure and safety measures.
  • Analyzing road crashes to identify and rectify contributing factors like engineering defects and driver behavior.


Structure

The organizational structure of Bareilly Traffic Police is designed for effective management and enforcement. The department is headed by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Traffic, Bareilly, and is further supported by:

  • Superintendent of Police (SP), Traffic
  • Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Traffic Administration
  • Traffic Inspectors (TI) for each zone
  • Traffic Sub-Inspectors (TSI) and Constables for ground-level enforcement

The city is divided into multiple traffic zones, each overseen by a Traffic Inspector and their respective teams. The Traffic Control Room coordinates all activities and serves as the hub for monitoring and addressing traffic-related issues. It also operates the Traffic Helpline, ensuring immediate response to public grievances and emergencies.



Road Crash Analysis and Research

Objectives: The Road Crash Analysis and Research Cell studies accidents to identify underlying causes and suggests measures to prevent future incidents. These measures include:

  • Improving road engineering and infrastructure.
  • Addressing issues such as poor lighting, absence of signage, and blind curves.
  • Collaborating with relevant departments to implement corrective actions.

The cell also compiles crash-related data for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways and coordinates with other government bodies to share insights and strategies. It fosters public engagement by encouraging citizens to provide feedback and participate in discussions about road safety improvements.



Awareness and Education

Road Safety Education: The department runs regular campaigns in schools, colleges, and communities to educate citizens on traffic rules and the importance of compliance. Workshops, exhibitions, and awareness drives are conducted to instill road discipline among all age groups.
